What it's like to work here

Since we launched for business in 2006 our Merck House base in Poole has entertained a wide variety of visitors.

These range from visiting suppliers and colleagues from our panel of insurance companies through to customers who live in the area who have decided to "pop in" to sort out their insurance with us.

Environment

We're proud of the environment and atmosphere we have created here. Our new state-of-the-art offices are right in the heart of Poole, close to bus and rail links and nearby shops, banks and other facilities. With stunning views across Poole Harbour and Poole Park towards Sandbanks, it's easy to see why we are aiming to become an employer of choice in the Bournemouth and Poole area.

We have dedicated training facilities on site, and a "chill out" area where you can take a break and relax, surf the web, watch TV, play fussball or even see how well you can do in our X-Box 360 league! There are plenty of vending machines - you even get free tea and coffee!

We want all our people to be successful too. That's why we place such emphasis on coaching and development, as well as providing opportunities to progress!

If you work in Sales or Customer Service, typically you'll be part of a team of up to 10. Each team has a Team Manager whose main priority is to support his or her team members through ongoing coaching and development.

Development

We take our responsibility to train and develop our employees very seriously.

Everybody who joins us goes through a comprehensive induction training programme. For people in our sales and customer service areas we support everyone through our Training and Competency Scheme.

Put simply, this means that everyone is trained to the highest standard so that they are competent to carry out their role not only correctly but successfully. After passing through our comprehensive induction, trainees join their new teams and managers with a development plan. Regular meetings are held with managers, at which training and development needs are constantly updated and actioned.

Sponsored Study

Castle Cover will sponsor employees to undertake courses of study that directly relate to their work and which result in recognised professional qualifications, such as the CIPD, CIMA, ACCA or CIM.

Unrivalled Support

We also provide support for employees who wish to supplement the usual on the job training by studying for nationally recognised BTEC qualifications at varying levels or the CII (Chartered Insurance Institute) qualifications.

Career Progression

One great benefit of providing development for people is that we have a ready supply of internal candidates ready for progression to more senior roles.

We have a policy of promoting from within - in the last 12 months nearly 10% of our people have either been promoted or have moved to a new role in a different area of the business to help meet their career aspirations!
